The 2 day Cycle Trainer Plus course enables you to deliver the Cycle Training Assistant (CTA) course. You will take on the role of an Instructor Trainer and be shown how to use the Cycling Scotland database so that you can add classes, register participants and issue certificates. This course includes familiarisation with the CTA course and materials along with valuable teaching techniques.
You will hold a valid Cycle Trainer certificate and have experience delivering Bikeability Scotland training to children.
This is a two day course. Once you have completed the initial training, 2 days further support are offered. For your first course, a Cycling Scotland Tutor will deliver a role model CTA course which you will shadow. The second course you are involved in, you will deliver this and a Tutor will provide mentor support. If delivery is signed off then you are able to deliver further CTA courses independently. However, this may be followed up with additional mentoring if necessary.
You will need a bicycle in working order and clothes appropriate for the weather.
This course is free for anyone intending to train new Cycle Training Assistants (CTAs) upon gaining authorisation from your Bikeability Scotland local authority co-ordinator.
Depending on your local authority, there may be additional opportunities to perform as a mentor to support new Bikeability Scotland instructors. As a Cycle Trainer Plus, it is recommended that you hold a valid first aid certificate and appropriate insurance.
